KicoKids Kicks Up Some Fun
Tia Cibani, a.k.a. ‘Kico’, had years of experience designing women’s wear when she decided to launch KicoKids in homage to her nieces and nephews. Still creating women’s wear under the luxury Ports 1961 designer fashion label, Cibani started KicoKids as a line of fashion knitwear. She may refer to KicoKids as her “hobby,” but there is nothing about this well-designed, well-rounded line that looks like the work of someone just dabbling in kids’. Every season Cibani delights with modern twists on looks inspired by the nostalgic ‘good ol' days’ of childhood.
Known for her use of luxe fabrics and sophisticated yet whimsical styling, Cibani offers girls mud silk, velvet and tweed this season. We especially love the puff sleeve dresses, the plaid harem pants paired with the stripey turtleneck and the tweed trio of bobble hat, pleated miniskirt and cape that reverses to flannel.
Cibani creates one of the best boys’ wear lines in the market. Look for Grandpa-style vests and cardigans that look perfect with her tweedy newsboy cap. Cibani’s talent for blending the old with the new can be seen in the boys’ wool cargo trouser shorts and the wool biker jacket trimmed in tweed. She adds whimsy with items like the sweater vest with mitten-shaped pockets and the hoodie with a lightening bolt graphic.
And we can’t forget Kicokids bewitching accessories, ranging from a sparkly palettes brooch and padded mud silk belt to a cozy cashfeel wool mitten scarf. Kicokids is sold in fine specialty boutiques and online at kicokids.com. |
