In the hip new Ryder & James collection for boys and girls sizes 2-7, classics become cool and trendy is transformed into timeless.

By Lynda M. Johnson, November 25, 2009

A free and easy sensibility marks the re-launch of Ryder & James. Inspired by the childhood days of its owners Aussy Manuhu and Jeeun Kim, the Spring 2010 collection goes vintage. Designer Cory Gomberg emphasizes this look with comfy fabrics, clean colors, classic shapes and subtle details.

The 'Varsity Surplus' group is reminiscent of well-worn items from an Ivy League wardrobe. The group is built around sweats, double weave plaid and chambray work shirts, crosshatch denim jeans, surplus chinos, utility style pants and patch pocket shorts. For a more nautical look, the 'Save Our Seas' group focuses on indigo-dyed sailing jackets, pinstriped blazers, oxford linen and woven cotton shirts, textured striped knits and lightweight sweaters. The 'Going My Wave' group features a surf-ready theme. Colorful short sleeve woven shirts, plaid jumpers for girls and Bermuda shorts for boys, '60s-style surfing trunks and bold graphic t-shirts round out the collection.

Now reflecting the depth and breadth of a true lifestyle brand, Ryder & James offers some stand-out pieces for girls this season. Look for wonderful dresses, tiered skirts, t-shirts, rompers/jumpers and soft feminine tops, some of which would look great paired with a jacket or blazer snagged from the equally stylish boys' offerings. Ryder & James is available in sizes 2T-6/7, and the line wholesales from $14-$33.
