It's official. Our family has a new holiday tradition. When it comes to updating the winter wardrobe, it pays to wait to shop until after the holiday season. Leading up to Christmas we kept the shopping focus on the wish list items, which were toys, electronics, entertainment and money/gift cards. Since none of the kids were pining for any particular clothing item or pair of shoes, we didn't bother with that kind of shopping before Christmas. We did the same thing last year. May not work for families boasting a bunch of fashionistas, but in our household waiting until after Christmas was just fine. As long as they could boast a fresh look by the time school was back in session from the winter break, they were happy. That meant we could take advantage of some wonderful post-Christmas sales, and the kids could select the looks they really wanted. From Penney's to PacSun, the deals were plentiful.
