To Cook Or Not to Cook Baby Food Print E-mail
Wednesday, December 23, 2009

I am not a chef. Actually the proper statement would be: I don't cook. I don't know why I don't cook, but the only things I know how to make are chocolate chip pancakes and a full Thanksgiving Dinner. Neither of which Bee can eat until she has teeth.

So knowing that I don't cook I registered for andfoodmill received a baby food mill and when Bee's pediatrician said she was ready for solid food I bought Top 100 Baby Purees, placed an order on Fresh Direct for fruits and veggies and showed Bee's nanny how to make baby food. That's right, I outsourced my cooking responsibility to the nanny who said he knew how to cook.

Well, we tried a mix of apples and pears and carrots and she didn't' really enjoy these homemade purees as much as she enjoyed the Earth's Best jars we had started with.

So while part of me feels guilty that maybe making Bee's food would be healthier and less expensive than purchasing food I realize that I don't have time to cook and I'd rather the nanny take Bee out of the house than stay indoors so he can make her food. It's a lot easier to order the jars via Fresh Direct and she loves them. So I'm happy!
