Industry leader Madame Alexander teams with couture label Jason Wu for a new NEOCissy doll collection designed to woo mother and daughter fashionistas.

By Tracy Mitchell, March 8, 2010

Madame Alexander's classic Cissy doll gets a brand new look, courtesy of designer Jason Wu, whose romantic dresses have won a celebrity following. Among his famous fans is First Lady Michelle Obama, who chose his white, one-shouldered number for last year's inaugural balls, a selection that sent Wu's star soaring. Obama has been photographed wearing Wu on subsequent occasions. Many Wu numbers turn up on the awards show and Hollywood benefit red carpets every season. Most recently Zoe Saldana, Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washingrton, Rachel Weisz and Diane Kruger wowed in Wu.

Wu's designs are often described as elegant fusions of the modern and the traditional. His signature ladylike style and impeccable workmanship and attention to every detail are a perfect fit for the doll world.

Wu's NEOCissy Collection features three 16 " dolls with fully ball-jointed bodies for endless posing possibilities. Dressed in futuristic ensembles accented by colorful accessories, the dolls are edgy and fashion forward.

Sassy Blu Belle, with a side-parted blue Afro and black nails, wears a black taffeta drop waisted mini dress. Chic Bon Bon wears a corselet trimmed with white soutache over a skirt with layers of netting and white flocked polka dots. A hand-shaped houndstooth hat is perched on her head and hot pink vinyl lace-up platform shoes adorn her feet. L'Enfant Terrible is a green-eyed red-head. She wears her hair in a side-parted ponytail and is dressed in a gothic ensemble. Check out the bustier bodice with fishnet neckline and short black taffeta mini skirt trimmed with black horsehair. Bright green open-toed platform booties and a feathered eye-patch accent L'Enfant Terrible's daring look.

Wu's other Cissy collection for Madame Alexander stars three retro dolls with a '50s look. Both Cissy collections by Jason Wu will be available for retail in August.
