There's a new kid on the boutique block and it showed up to play during Vogue's Fashion's Night Out in New York earlier this month. The only official tween participant, Level 2 staged its event as a coming out celebration. Located in Park Slope Brooklyn, Level 2 is looking to fill a void in the neighborhood. With the owner's niece and nephew in mind, the store will cater to tween boys and girls with hip looks from cool brands such as Harajuku Lovers by Gwen Stefani, Barcelona Spain's Desigual, Appaman, Tractor, Erge and Tease.
Tween actress Eden Duncan Smith hosted the sneak peek event. Smith, who appeared in Fences and is the new 'Nala' in The Lion King, helped tween shoppers browse the racks. With a lively soundtrack playing in the background, the tweens tried on clothes, modeled and posed for pictures in front of the 'Step and Repeat' wall. Every kid left their mark on the graffiti wall and snagged a Level 2 gift bag and a special invitation to return when the store officially opens on October 1st.
"We were quite busy that night and look forward to our actual opening. Fashion's Night Out was a great success for us. The kids in the neighborhood and parents are very excited to have a tween store opening", said actress Leigh Whitney, who will operate her new shop with twin sister Robin Wilcher, owner of the Duo Kids multi-line showroom.
