Foreign buyer attendance was up at the 72nd edition of Pitti Bimbo held January 20-22nd at the Fortezza da Basso in Florence, Italy. International buyer attendance rose 4.5%, bringing the total buyer attendance to 8,300, with 2,816 coming from abroad. American retailers in attendance included Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Nieman Marcus, as well as New York boutiques Spring Flowers and Sweet William, among others. American buyers were joined by several American manufacturers exhibiting at the show. Kate Mack, Kissy Kissy, Hudson Threads, Oopsy Daisy Baby and Sundek were among the brands on display.

ENK Children's Club reports a surge in attendance for its January 23rd-25th show, citing later show dates as allowing exhibitors to show early fall along with their late spring/summer and immediates. According to the show organizer, more than 295 companies were featured, including first time exhibitors Brooklyn Juniors, Gunamuna, Gusti Fashions, Itzy Bitzy and Knitoes & Co, RedSnapper, Gabbita, Knickerbocker Glory, Quagmire, Aviator Nation, Super Cool Kids Clothing, and Babbaco by Jessica Kim. Among the buyers in attendance were Saks, Isetan Japan, Bloomingdales, Lesters, Cookies, Zitomir, Fahrenheit 451, Buy Buy Baby, Peter Elliott, Denny’s, Ibiza and Rothmans.

Widgeon returns to its original name American Widgeon for the fall season and introduces nylon outerwear styles to its collection for boys and girls. The company also introduces novelty and fashion print plush car seat covers under the name Snugaroo.  The covers fit over car seats to keep baby warm. Coordinating hats complete the look. Ugg Australia is bringing everything in house to focus on building and expanding its kids'offerings. There was a soft launch of kids’ items last year and now the company is moving ahead with a complete line of footwear and apparel for Fall 2011, including a new capsule collection of outerwear for infants on up to big kids.
