Fall '11 Sneak Peek: Girls

Girls' fashion for Fall '11 is a study in variety. The style syllabus for girls is similar to boys as they too get snazzy stripes, tailored looks that borrow from menswear, pattern mixing and fabric mixing, shades of grey, purple, fashion activewear and Nordic influences, including Faire Isle motifs.  However, designers also assign girls some extra credit, giving them girly polka dots, hearts, kitties and butterflies; Grandma Chic; French Boudoir influences; fun faux fur, especially vests and trim; sweater coats and shrugs; capes and ponchos; sequins; and ruffles – a repeat performer from Spring '11. Grade A silhouettes for girls this season include retro-feel sleeveless sheaths (perhaps inspired by our current First Lady), shift dresses, jumpers, jodphur pants and cuffed shorts.
